Abstract

The article presents background information on the formation and operation of the International Institute of Sociology, Internacional Sociological Association, Worldwide Independent Network of market research/Gallup International, Allensbach Institute, European Society for Opinion and Marketing, National Opinion Research Center (NORC), Center National Centre for Social Research (NatCen), GfK Group, which made a huge contribution to the development and establishment of empirical and applied sociology. The information provided in the article will be useful for those who show interest in relevant problems of contemporary sociological knowledge, contributing to social culture of society, determining the place and role of sociology in modern society.
